You can import products into Mobile Inventory from Excel (.xls, .xlsx) or CSV (.csv) files. This is the fastest way to create or refresh a product list when you already manage data in a spreadsheet.
Requirement
For reliable updates, include SKU in your file. SKU is the safest identifier when you need to update existing products instead of replacing the inventory.
Supported file rules
| Field | Rule |
|---|---|
| File type | Use xls, xlsx, or csv. |
| Header row | Use the first row for clear column names such as SKU, Product Name, Barcode, or Quantity. |
| Excel sheet | Place the source data in Sheet1. |
| Large imports | Prefer csv for larger imports because parsing is faster. |
Start the import
- Open the target inventory, or create a new inventory if you are loading products for the first time.
- Open the context menu and choose Import products.
- Select the file from device storage or from a connected cloud provider.
- Review the detected column mappings before continuing.
Review field mapping
- Confirm that the product name column maps to the correct product field.
- Check SKU, Barcode, NFC, and any custom fields carefully before you continue.
- If a required field is not detected automatically, map it manually before importing.
Choose the correct update mode
Delete and import
Replace the existing product list entirely. Use this only when the inventory should be rebuilt from the file.
Update
Add new products and update matched products by identifier. Use this when you want to preserve the inventory while refreshing product details.
What to verify after import
- Open one imported product and verify the mapped fields.
- Search by SKU or barcode to make sure the identifiers were imported correctly.
- If you expected updates, confirm that existing products were updated instead of duplicated.
